While I spend the majority of my time these days running Telecom Association, those of you who know me know my first professional love is selling multi-location voice & data solutions to business customers. Well I got a chance to do that some the other day when a business end-user emailed me for a T-1 broadband Internet quote on one of his 12 locations. Hoo-rah!
When the lead originally came in the guy gave me the service address but I could not immediately get a hold of him to play "20-questions" like every good "solution seller" is supposed to do. so instead of having the prospect do what I wanted him to do - tell me all about his problems, I elected to simply do what he wanted me to do - get a couple price quotes for a Internet T-1 at the location he gave me.
Since I don't want to use up a lot of time on a prospect I'm not tight with I figured I'd just run the lead through the Carrier Quote Shop portal that allows me to get quotes in under a minute or so from up to eight different carriers including, AireSpring, XO, MegaPath, One Communications, Telnes, Megapath, TelePacific & Windstream. Since I know AireSpring's quotes cover the Qwest, PAETEC & Global Crossing networks as well as their own, I know I'm pulling prices from 11 different wired carrier networks.
