Vince Bradley, President of Energent and World Telecom Group (WTG) produced a great webinar this week showcasing how telecom agents and channel sales partners can profit from the desire of many business owners to "go green". This week's webinar was the third monthly webinar Energent has produced for WTG sub-agents.
The June webinar showcased the parallels and differences between selling energy and selling telecom voice & data. The July webinar shared information about "demand side management" and the energy solutions Energent is bringing to the marketplace through the independent sales channel. This month's webinar went into a decent dive into what needs to be known by agents about "green energy" - energy that's renewable. The speakers were Vince, Marni Migliaccio - Energent's channel manager from Glacial Energy and a guest speaker from a new Energent partner that specializes in brokering out solar builds for business owners using a "distributed generation" model.
The Glacial presentation focused on their "green energy" solution in it's electric product bag in their Green-e Energy Certified Renewable Energy Certificate or "REC". Marni said the Green-e product has strong interest from businesses on the West Coast. She also indicated that Glacial was looking to roll out a gas program in the not too distant future.
The second guest speaker gave a very interesting talk for 45 minutes in the area of how his company was actually a "master broker" of sorts for $250,000 and larger solar projects. (I'm not sharing the name of the company or persons as Energent/WTG requires non-disclosures & non-circumventions to be signed by interested parties wanting to tap into his extended energy knowledge base.)
To make a long story short, it's easy to see why Vince wanted to introduce this company to his sub-agents as the speaker showcased many impressive projects he had put together for some very large businesses that all wanted to "go green" for one or a number of reasons. The most impressive part of the presentation was the speaker was not pitching "this is what I CAN do" but "this is what I HAVE DONE". He went on to share some impressive facts and figures that showed where all the money comes from to get million dollar project paid for in under 5 years and how much of that money comes to referring agents in the form of compensation and when.
BOTTOM LINE? Look for businesses, cities or campuses that own their own rooftops (including parking structures), that get their power from more expensive utility companies and have access to regulatory incentives. The most surprising "learn" was that there's a lot going on with solar in New Jersey even without constant sunshine. With Energent, the speaker's company is in the process of creating some quick and easy "cheat sheets" to let any agent or partner see if any of the businesses they know are good solar project prospects.
ACTION ITEM? If you're serious about adding energy to your business service offerings contact Energent/WTG to see if they're a right match for you in comparison to other TA master agents that also want to "be the guy" agents turn to for energy.
